Our First and Finest — The One That Started It All
Origin: Shivalik Foothills, Uttarakhand
Type: Wild Forest Honey · Mixed Wildflowers · 1,100–1,800m altitude
Availability: Available all year
This honey comes from the wild sal forests of Uttarakhand, where bees visit hundreds of different wildflowers. Collected by third-generation forest families without any heating, filtering, or blending. What you get is exactly what the forest made.
This is not farmed honey. It comes from wild cliff faces deep inside the forests of Chhattisgarh and the foothills of Uttarakhand, collected by the Gond and Muria tribal communities using methods passed down for thousands of years — lowering themselves by rope, calming the bees with burning herbs, and taking only part of the comb so the colony survives and returns next year. Every jar is batch-numbered. When the harvest is done for the year, it’s done. You can taste the difference. This honey has a boldness and depth that no farmed or commercially produced honey can match. INDIAN ROOTS & TRADITION The Gond tribes of central India are among the oldest indigenous communities in the country. Honey gathering — what they call ‘madhu sangrah’ — is not just an occupation for them. It’s tied to their calendar, their rituals, and their relationship with the forest. The bees are not considered pests or resources. They are part of the ecosystem, and the harvest is done with respect for that. Each batch of Junglee Wild Reserve carries the memory of that relationship in every spoonful.
